Engineer and Project Manager, Frontier Telecommunications Plan,
engineer and deploy fiber based DSL facilities within the State of West
Virginia (for a 2 year period). Monitored DSL usage at the device level
and at the Central Office level. Also handle all project management to
deploy GigE service to all ATT cell sites for Frontier’s FTTC projects in all
14 Frontier territories. Achieved a 95 percent due date met. Also
handles ATT’s GigE services to all of the State Farm Insurance locations
within the Frontier territory. Achieved a very high customer
satisfaction rating from ATT. Feb
2006 to Dec 2010 – Private FTTx and Telecom Consultant. Worked
with Canada’s LEDCOR LTS Engineering division to deploy FTTx (DSL) in small
Oregon cities as the lead planner and OSP Engineer. Did FTTH in
Coquille, Myrtle Point and Reedsport, OR Mar
2005 to Feb 2006 – Area Manager.
FTTP, Henkels and McCoy, Aliquippa, PA. The
Area Manager for a local FTTH team of 15 outside fielders, Designers
and CAD drafters in the Pittsburgh, PA area to implement fiber optic
placements within the Western PA region for Verizon. Work directly with
Verizon engineers and Verizon construction (customer). Attain high
level of quality due to personal Quality Review techniques. Also
supervised 2 remotes engineering and design offices from Pittsburgh with one
office in Oxford Mass and the other in Lewisville, TX. The majority of
my time was spent as Project Manager and training fielder, designers and
drafters. Oct
2004 to Mar 2005 – FTTP
Planner./Lead Designer, Bechtel Engineering, Frederick, MD. Supervised a 9 person team of Designers and drafters for
Verizon through Bechtel Telecommunications for the Dormont, PA exchange area
in Pittsburgh Pa. Also perform network planning for new routes and
design both the F1 and F2 fiber projects. Use both Bechtel and Verizon
system tools to extract address information from LEIS reports, maintain
Verizon web tracker information and interface with the local Verizon engineer
co-ordinator and the Verizon Area FTTP Manager. Direct
and co-ordinate with field walkdown teams to gather relative
information for designer use. Also work with CAD teams to ensure
Verizon workprint standards are followed. Nov
2003 to Oct 2004 – Retired from
GTE/Verizon due to corporate early retirement offer. May
1999 to Nov 2003 – Verizon,
Central Office Construction and Operations Supervisor – Direct
supervision of 25 IBEW technicians in the Southern Indiana area and up to 25
CWA COEI construction techs while in Lexington, KY. During this 5 year
period, my team absentee rate never exceeded ½ of a percent and the team
experienced only 2 minor vehicle accidents. Met all circuit and
equipment installation timeframes ranging from minor DS1 to major switch,
framework and battery installations. I
held the first or second rating among 39 other supervisors in a 7 state area
for a consistent 18 month period with 0 accidents. I had the highest
moral within my work groups. Primary responsibilities were maintaining
all base units, remote switching units, DLC’s and the installation of
circuits from DS0 to OC3’s. Planned, Designed and Built fiber cable and
equipment from central office location all the way to customers frames and
fiber terminal equipment to include BICS designs and multi-floor risers for
Indianapolis, Cincinatti, Seatle, Overland Park and Cleveland. Apr
1982 to May 1999 – GTE/Verizon,
Outside Plant Planner and Senior Engineer Portsmouth,
OH – Planner-Access Design and
Senior Engineer for CAF projects for the Southern Ohio area consisting of
fiber and copper cable projects and the placement and engineering of fiber
driven pair gains including Marconi, AFC, Alcatel, Reltec and re-use of
Siemans equipment. Project managed various projects from very minor to
major multi-million dollars. Handled the review of all engineered
projects prior to being released. Also had the responsibility to train
other Network Planners within the region on the uses of ICGS and ICAPS.
This position also oversaw all outside Plant Construction crews from
including buried cables, aerial plant and underground installations. Dallas,

processes and the application of new technologies such as HDSL and
